Thing 1 - The blog that wouldn't die

Just when I thought it was safe to forget blogs, CPD23 2012 has emerged to make me press onwards and sideways.

Seriously the desire for continuing professional development does seem to have become a hunger.  A desire not to stop growing, developing, and improving in my professional role, to be able to serve my patrons (our lovely students) better.

I reaped real benefits for my professional service back in 2010 when I took part in 23 Things Oxford and am looking forward to a similar experience with CPD23. Perhaps better, because thanks to the earlier programme, I'm more confident with the nature of the concept and experimenting with the tools we are introduced with.

'Things' I'm looking forward to: I'm hoping to use the idea of a personal brand to define and refine my particular role (Thing 3), grow in expertise with filesharing (Thing 13) as I've witnessed the struggles students have with it, and learn about volunteering (Thing 22) and promoting myself in my career (Thing 21).

As always this is tinged with slight dread that accompanies anything new and unfamiliar.

  1. I know what you mean about needing to keep on educating yourself. I have a hunger for knowledge. I love reading about all the amazing things people do and want to do them too. That is why I am doing the 23 things. I tried to get this started on a local level here but couldn't muster up enough support. I am happy to participate with all you people from around the world. I think the whole experience will be more interesting. Amy
